Digital Rights
Management:
DRM is to prevent unauthorized redistribution of digital
media and restrict the ways consumers can copy content they have purchased. IT
essentially specifies, manages and enforces “rules” in all aspects of the
digital content, in particularly in its usage and distribution. It is primarily
available only at the PC level because the PC as an end-user system, when
connected to the Internet, make it easy for content delivery. The security
technologies behind the License Brokers are mature and in the context of DRM,
they are being delegated to handle e-commerce and user privacy issues. The DRM
framework supports many DRM schemes; which DRM schemes a device supports in up
to the device manufacturer. The content scramble system is a DRM and encryption
system employed on many commercially produced DVD - Video discs. An effective
DRM technology must implement strong security measures to prevent unauthorized
use of content. Legal system are related to copyrights. They are rights of
authors as opposed to copyrights owners, although generally authors will own
the copyrights unless it has been assigned to a third party. The lesson
concludes with a discussion on the DRM strategies adopted by many organizations
that how to manage and prevent the files.
